Joel Puckett: I enter the earth (world premiere)
William Brooks: in memoriam reducere studemus
Matthew Brown: Another Lullaby for Insomniacs
Michael Gilbertson: Where the words go
David Shapiro: A Century of Aprils
An extraordinary colorist, Joel is setting words of a !Kung shaman describing the dance trance of a healing ritual in which song gives power. In William Brooks' setting of Pierre Joris’ poem about the death of Anton Webern, in memoriam reducere studemus, we again ponder life - the here and after - while Matthew Brown’s setting of the wistful Another Lullaby for Insomniacs is very much about the here and now: loss and longing pervade.
Join us for a pre-concert lecture with Donald one hour prior to the performance.
